Established 29 Feb 2000, pursuant to Resolution 3 of 6th S-XM2113 - United Nations Regional Cartographic Conference for the Americas (UNRCCA), Jun 1997, New York NY (USA), as Permanent Committee on Spatial Data Infrastructure for the Americas (PC-IDEA) -- Comité Permanente para la Infrastructura de Datos Geoespaciales de las Américas (CP-IDEA). Operates under purview of UNRCCA. Restructured under current title, 23 Aug 2013, New York NY (USA), in accordance with Resolution 7, adopted at 10th UN Regional Cartographic Conference for the Americas.

Aims

Maximize economic, social and environmental benefits derived from use of geospatial information through knowledge transfer and exchange of experiences and technologies between countries, based on common standards, which would allow establishment of the Geospatial Data Infrastructure of the Americas.
