6-7 Oct 1997, Brussels (Belgium), at meeting of over 60 presidents, following recommendations of a seminar, 5-7 May 1997, Stuttgart. Previously referred to as Conference of Presidents of the European Regional Legislative Assemblies -- Conférence des présidents des assemblées législatives régionales européennes -- Konferenz der Präsidenten der Regionalen Gesetzgebenden Versammlungen in der Europäischen Union and Conference of European Regional Legislative Assemblies.
Aims
Enhance regional parliamentary control of European affairs; entrust the task of monitoring and evaluating sector-based programmes to special committees responsible for European affairs within each assembly; encourage exchange of information among regional legislative assemblies and between them and national parliaments and the European Parliament.
