The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1968, for microbial biotechnologists and biochemical engineers. From 1994, open to all aspects of biotechnology.

Aims

Enhance interaction among laboratories, institutes, commercial enterprises and individuals working in the area of plant, mammalian and microbial cell cultivation and processing worldwide, especially in developing countries; foster development in the use of biological materials for industrial purposes and preservation of the ecological environment.

Activities

Fosters and organizes training courses, fellowships and cooperative research programmes, in particular between members from developed and developing countries. Organizes: meetings; symposia; seminars; international training programmes for scientists, technologists and engineers interested in application of biological materials for commercial use and in preservation of the environment.
