1987, as a Committee of B-XB1748 - International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). Previously referred to as ICOMOS International Committee for the Study and Conservation of Earthen Architecture -- Comité international pour l'étude et la conservation de l'architecture de terre de l'ICOMOS.
Advise ICOMOS on policy and programme in the domain; promote cooperation of ICOMOS with activities of other organizations specialized in this domain, in particular by establishing a network to monitor it; facilitate establishment of specialized national sub-committees within the framework of ICOMOS national committees; serve as a channel of communication.
