The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


1972, Malawi, as a vocational training project, by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Universal Postal Union (UPU) and with participation of Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi and Swaziland (BLMS). Funded and managed by UNDP until 1984; from 1984 to 1987, funded by European Community under ACP-EEC Convention (Lomé convention) and Second ACP-EEC Convention (Lomé II); from 1987 to 1989, funded by Malawi government; from Apr 1989, a body corporate funded and managed by BLMS governments.


Provide cost effective middle and advanced level training to posts and telecommunication personnel in the Southern Africa region; develop so as to offer courses in other disciplines - currently management and computing.
