History
Founded as a specialized organ of D-XD0140 - Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), at the Founding Congress of PAFATU, following 4 years preparatory work by Organizing Committee. Constitution amended by 1st Continental Congress of PAFATU, 27-29 Oct 1986, Cairo (Egypt). No activities reported since 2000.
Aims
Represent and defend the interests and promote the well-being of agricultural, forestry, fisheries, veterinary producers and other rural workers of Africa; build and maintain trade union unity amongst rural workers' organizations in Africa at national, regional and continental levels; promote democratic organizations of rural workers and cooperative economic ventures such as consumer cooperatives, credit unions and agricultural extensions and technical services for the purpose of improving their social and economic status; actively support the principles of doctrine and orientation that prompted the social, economic and political objectives of the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity.

Continental Congress of Delegates (every 4 years), consisting of delegates elected by the affiliated organizations and elected officers of the Federation. Executive Council (meets once a year), composed of President, Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary-General, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and 5 Vice Presidents one from each of the following sub-regions of Africa: Southern, East, Central, West and North.
