The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

as a research and development programme of European Commission (EC) for 1990-1994, to replace Stimulation Plan for Economic Science (SPES) and Stimulation of the International Cooperation and Interchange Needed by European Research Scientists (SCIENCE Researchers Europe). Also referred to as HUMCAP. Itself replaced, 1994, by Training and Mobility of Researchers (TMR).

Aims

Assist in creation of a genuinely European scientific and technical community by promoting mobility of young researchers, mainly at post-doctoral level, so as to increase quantity and quality of future human resources available for research and technological development needed by European Community member states.

Sectors: Mathematics and information sciences; Physics; Chemistry; Life sciences; Earth sciences; Engineering Sciences; Economic and Social Sciences. Activity I: Fellowships for post-doctoral students and established researchers, the study being undertaken in a member state other than the home country; includes Marie Curie Fellowships; Activity II: Networks; Activity III: Improvement of access for researchers to large-scale facilities; Action IV: 'Research and Development Euroconferences'.
