History
1977, as International Society for Artificial Organs (ISAO) -- Société internationale des organes artificiels. Also previously referred to as International Society for Artificial Internal Organs (ISAIO). Current title adopted when present Federation emerged from the former ISAO, 2004.
Aims
Increase and encourage knowledge and research on artificial organs, apheresis, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and other related topics; facilitate international exchange of knowledge; provide education related to the improvement and optimal utilization of organ assist devices.
