History

1959, Freiburg (Germany FR), as International Diaconate Circle -- Internationale Diakonatskreis, uniting diaconate groups which had been established from 1951 in a number of towns in Germany and other countries. International Information Centre set up 1965. Reorganized under current title, 1969. Transferred to Rottenburg (Germany) in 1992.

Aims

Animate the spirit of diaconia of Jesus Christ in a renewed diaconate through contemporary service for deacons ministering to suffering humanity in the Church and in society; offer ecumenical cooperation with diaconal and other Church communities.
