History

Apr 1989, Mexico City (Mexico), within the framework of Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), following series of annual workshops, since 1986, organized by Université Laval, Québec (Canada), in collaboration with Mexican universities and with the participation of experts and students from 15 Latin American countries.

Aims

Train experts in the field of water resource management with appropriate modern techniques, focusing especially on protection, preservation and recuperation of water resources.

Activities

Series of intensive 2-12 week courses for professors, postgraduate students and professionals; support for masters' degree and doctoral theses; assistance for universities requesting aid in designing doctoral programmes in water sciences; technical assistance for multidisciplinary projects in the field of hydrology; support in setting up a computer centre interconnected with existing centres; support in creating a scientific library and diffusing research work.
