History

1953, Brussels (Belgium), as Comité d'action interallié de la résistance (CAIR). Developed to include resistance and deportee movements, 1957, Brussels, as Commission internationale de liaison et de coordination de la résistance. Present name adopted at 4th International Resistance Conference, 8 Jul 1961, Turin (Italy). Registered in accordance with French Law.

Aims

Bring together at the international level - all political or governmental intervention being excluded - associations of resisters, deportees and victims of nazism in order to defend their rights and claims, perpetuate the memory of their struggles in the service of freedom, oppose any resurgence of nazism and antisemitism and any attacks on the rights and dignity of the human person; promote a policy of genuine peace that respects freedom and democracy.
