Founded 6 Apr 1830, Fayette NY (USA), by Joseph Smith Jr, on whose death in 1844 the church was dispersed into widely scattered groups. Joseph Smith III succeeded his father and was ordained prophet-president of the church on 6 Apr 1860, when the Church became organized under the title Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Current title adopted, 6 Apr 2001.
