Founded Jun 1950, Paris (France), as International Rayon and Synthetic Fibres Committee – Comité international de la rayonne et des fibres synthétiques (CIRFS). Previously sometimes referred to by English initials IRSFC. Most recent statutes adopted Dec 1997. Present name adopted, 2009. Registered in accordance with Belgian law.
Study at scientific, technical and information level, the evolution of the rayon and synthetic fibre industry; improve, increase and develop the use of rayon, other artificial fibres, synthetic fibres and derived products; coordinate contacts at international level with other international professional and intergovernmental organizations; consider economic policy and its implications for other industries, and make recommendations accordingly.
