2 Apr 1982, Marseille (France). Previously referred to in French as Communauté de travail des cantons et régions des Alpes occidentales. As of 2006 "ceased to exist".
Aims
Exchange information at technical level and discuss problems which are of interest to its constituent cantons and regions in order to coordinate such problems and their solutions.

Bureau (meets at least twice a year), comprising 3 elected representatives per region/canton appointed by their government. Commissions (6), presided over by one of the members of the Bureau: Mountain Policy; Transports and Communications; Tourism; Economy, Research, Technology; Education and Culture; Environment. Coordination network, consisting of 3 Secretaries-General (one for each country) and Correspondents of each region and canton.
