Current title adopted in 2001 during 5th General Conference.
Aims
Through close cooperation among cities: raise international public awareness regarding the need to abolish nuclear weapons; contribute to the realization of lasting world peace by working to eliminate starvation and poverty, assisting refugees, supporting human rights, protecting the environment, and solving other problems that threaten peaceful coexistence within the human family.
