The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

July 1981, as Inter-American Center of Academic Cooperation for Economic and Social Development -- Centro Interamericano de Cooperación Académica para el Desarrollo Económico y Social (CICADES), on the occasion of 1st Assembly.

Aims

Provide technical assistance and advisory services to member institutions of higher education, i e universities in the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, and to national and international organizations concerned with economic and social development of the Americas; encourage, stimulate, and support joint undertakings and cooperation between and among member institutions.

Activities

Facilitates high level research in scientific, technical, economic and social fields related to problems of local, regional and national development. Develops programs of university studies to satisfy the needs of individual areas for trained graduates. Offers university services to help higher education be responsive to community needs. Promotes faculty and student mobility and exchange among member universities. Promotes the establishment of joint programs through partnership between member universities and the productive sector. Projects, courses, seminars, colloquia, and conferences.
