Preparatory meetings had been held, 1976 and 1978, Nairobi, at H-XE9586 - UNESCO Office, Nairobi - Regional Bureau for Sciences in Africa (ROSTA), following recommendations, Jan 1974, Dakar (Senegal), of S-XS0415 - Conference of Ministers Responsible for the Application of Science and Technology to Development in Africa (CASTAFRICA).
Bring about close and active collaboration among African engineering, scientific and technological institutions with regard to post-graduate training and research; build high-level human resources capacity by pooling resources available in the region.
