The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1990. Also referred to as Transnational European Rural Network. Registered in accordance with Belgian law. No longer in operation.

Aims

Pursue and promote policies leading to redistribution of resources for the benefit of poor people in rural areas, particularly disadvantaged and marginalized areas in Europe; draw attention to problems and possibilities of rural development; develop criteria and record experiences of good practice and innovative projects in rural development and disseminate such information; identify and support areas and networks which would benefit from shared experience and promote exchanges between them; provide a channel of information from the European Union to local projects to enable them to participate in formulating relevant measures and policies at local, regional and national level; examine and feedback to EU and to local projects, implications of EU measures and policies for people living in poverty in rural areas in Europe; encourage exchange of information between NGOs in the areas of research and practice with the view to improving services; develop research and studies which explore the nature, extent and causes of rural poverty in the member states; alert public opinion.

Structure

General Assembly (annual). Administrative Council, consisting of 12 members. Executive Committee, composed of President, 2 Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and Secretary.
