History
Set up at founding conference. Statutes formally adopted, Mar 1974, Paris. Developed from Continuing Committee of the World Futures Studies Research Conferences (CC-WFSRC), previously called International Future Research Committee, which originated, Sep 1967, Oslo (Norway), at 1st World Futures Research Conference, organized by the then H-XH2943 - Mankind 2000, together with G-XG2405 - Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO).
Aims
Bring together academics, researchers, practitioners, students and futures-focused institutions and offer a forum for stimulation, exploration and exchange of ideas, visions and plans for alternative futures, through long-term, big-picture thinking and radical change; encourage and promote development of futures studies as a transdisciplinary academic and professional field in all parts of the world both face-to-face and virtually.
