1985, Damascus (Syrian AR), as Association of Agricultural Research Institutions in the Near East and North Africa Region, at 1st General Meeting, when Officers were selected, following decision of meeting, 1983, Cyprus. Co-sponsored by B-XB0971 - FAO, E-XE5928 - International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) and U-XF3793 - International Service for National Agricultural Research (ISNAR). Constitution currently being amended to allow membership from universities, institutions of higher agricultural education and civil society representatives.
Foster development of agricultural research; promote exchange of information and experience in the region; strengthen cooperative linkages in research and training in accordance with national and regional needs and priorities.
