The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


Formal name: International Society on Ageing, Law and Ethics. Sponsored by International Federation on Ageing (IFA). Ceased operating 2002.


Highlight issues that need attention and report on new problems; exchange information and examples of good practice; suggest reforms in the law where they are needed; influence national and international meetings to consider legal issues and to put them on their agenda.

Concerned with legal rights of older individuals as well as with legal issues affecting the aging population, EAGLE focuses its attention on such issues as: informed consent, legal services, choice, compulsory protective services, guardianship, the prevention of exploitation and abuse, health care, retirement policies, age discrimination in public life and in the workplace, pension entitlements, taxation and the rights of residents in long stay homes.
