The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1991, pursuant to a proposal made during a meeting on African development, July 1990, Maastricht (Netherlands). Ceased to exist, June 2007, when activities were continued by United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and African Development Bank (ADB).

Aims

Bring together top African policymakers and their partners in the international community to build consensus on Africa's priority development issues.

Priority areas: (1) Governance, democracy, conflict management and reduced military spending; (2) Sharing experience and expertise in economic reform; (3) Regional economic integration and cooperation; (4) Related issues of population, agricultural production and environment; (5) Monitoring development trends and resource flows to Africa, including debt relief and private investment; (6) Achieving competitiveness in an increasingly interdependent global economy.
