1983 Damascus Syrian AR

History

Founded 23 May 1983, Damascus (Syrian AR), as Arab Swimming Association, at a conference with participation of 6 Arab countries and under the auspices of U-XE1221 - Swimming Organization Committee of Gulf Countries. Present name adopted 1996. As of 2016, assumed ceased to exist.

Aims

Organize and enhance Olympic swimming, aquatic games and life saving swimming in the Arab world; encourage young people to learn swimming and develop brotherly relations among Arab youth and the youth of the whole world through support for swimming and water sports; achieve honourable Arab representation on a world level; conduct scientific research to enhance technical standards; provide national federations with technical and financial assistance; enforce rules of FINA in Arab countries.
