History

Founded 1924, Paris (France). Statutes modified and approved by the Extraordinary Congress, 26 Mar 1996, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). Most recent Statutes adopted, Apr 2006, Doha (Qatar).

Aims

Bring together, under its auspices, national associations of professional sports journalists; encourage and assist with the foundation of national associations for sports journalists in countries where none exist; maintain authority and autonomy of Member Associations; promote closer links between Member Associations and sports organizations; coordinate and protect ethical and professional interests of members; develop the sports spirit and solidarity among sports journalists throughout the world and spread the ideas of fair-play in sports journalism and sports reporting; collaborate with organizations having as their objective the promotion of sport on a world-wide basis and facilitate the work of professional sport media.
