Founded 30 Jun 1983, Nairobi (Kenya), as African Union of Building Societies and Housing Finance Institutions, under the auspices of B-XC2701 - International Union for Housing Finance (IUHF). Officially inaugurated 14 Jun 1984, Malawi; registered in Kenya shortly thereafter. Initially there were 11 members in 8 countries. South Africa was excluded from membership due to the political situation in the country until 1993. Registered in accordance with South African law. Has changed names 3 times.
Promote housing finance on the African continent.
