History

Founded when Liaison Bureau was set up. 1st Congress: 25 Mar 1972, Luxembourg. Previous organization of the same name became well-known to the public in 1948, when it burnt down a number of frontier posts in Europe. An international JEF structure was set up, 2 Feb 1950, Paris (France), but did not survive the split of Federalist movements in 1956. Between 1955 and 1972 JEF sections existed in a number of countries but without an international structure.

Aims

Create a democratic European federation as a guarantee for peace and a more free, just and democratic society; foster European citizenship; widen and deepen the EU; bring Europe closer to the citizens.
