The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


27 Sep 1980, on signing of First Project Agreement by the Government of Malaysia - acting for member countries of Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) - and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for the Government of the USA. Ceased to exist.


Provide a focal point and coordinating mechanism to improve plant quarantine activities in the region through training, research, information exchange and consultancy.

Complements plant quarantine activities of ASEAN member countries with regard to post-entry quarantine, formulates standardized legislative measures and organizes advanced training in plant quarantine. Assists ASEAN member countries to export primary agricultural produce. Acts as a repository for information and dissemination on plant quarantine and plant protection matters affecting the ASEAN region. Carries out research on suitable treatment schedules for other plant quarantine pests. Provides consultancy service in specialized quarantine areas. Organizes (annually) symposia/conferences and workshops/technical meetings.
