The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

Founded following a meeting, 12 Dec 1994, Hangzhou (China), where foundation was announced. International legal status acknowledged, 14 Feb 1999. Formally founded 5 under the auspices of B-XE3386 - UNIDO and under close cooperation with the Chinese government. Pilot activity phase started 2002. No activities reported since 2015.


Promote small hydropower (SHP) development globally through the concept of triangular cooperation, which involves technical and economic cooperation among development countries, developed countries and international organizations, so as to supply rural areas in developing countries with environmentally-friendly, affordable and sufficient energy, which will lead to increases in employment opportunities, economic development, improvements in the ecological environment, poverty alleviation and more generally substantial and spiritual improvements in local living standards.
