1981, Mexico City (Mexico), as one of the Communication Projects of U-XE3976 - Latin American Institute of Transnational Studies (LAITS). In 1983 ILET moved its headquarters and all its projects to Santiago (Chile). Since 1984 Fempress is an independent project.
Increase awareness on women's issues and needs, especially those from the Latin American region; create awareness among journalists and organized women of the importance of making better use of the media; reach women from grass roots, women's centres, institutions, the academic world, parliamentarians, etc, to create links between them.
