The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1981, Mexico City (Mexico), as one of the Communication Projects of Latin American Institute of Transnational Studies (LAITS). In 1983 ILET moved its headquarters and all its projects to Santiago (Chile). Since 1984 Fempress is an independent project.

Aims

Increase awareness on women's issues and needs, especially those from the Latin American region; create awareness among journalists and organized women of the importance of making better use of the media; reach women from grass roots, women's centres, institutions, the academic world, parliamentarians, etc, to create links between them.

Activities

Produces information on women and women's issues with alternative perspectives; increases the flow of alternative information in the media; gives background information on women's issues; makes information available to women's alternative media groups, women's organizations and institutions and research centres on women's issues; disseminates information received from women's groups and organizations on research activities; organizes, co-organizes and/or participates in workshops, seminars, panels and other meetings; monthly press and radio services.
