The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


May 1929, Paris (France), by the League of Nations' International Institute of Intellectual Cooperation (IICI), as Standing Committee for International Scholastic Correspondence -- Comité permanent pour la correspondance scolaire internationale. Reorganized and present name adopted Oct 1946. Registered in accordance with French law. Ceased to exist.


Promote international educational - scholastic and non-scholastic, grouped and individual, and adult - correspondence.

Documentary, research and operational centre of affiliated organizations. Endeavours to widen the international network of education exchange for schools; conducts enquiries at an international level into the educational and technical aspects of school exchange; works to obtain certain advantages (reduction of postal or transport charges) for those engaging in school exchange. Collaboration, in appropriate areas, with other non-governmental organizations.
