Founded on the initiative of Monique Kande, as International Foundation for the Economic Development of African Woman -- Fondation internationale pour le développement économique de la femme africaine (FIDEFA). Present name adopted 1995. Previously also referred to as Fondation internationale économique de la femme africaine. Registered in accordance with Belgian law.
Pursue the integration of women in development and encourage their will to strive for self-fulfilment through exchanges, research and the sharing of information in order to foster an enterprising mind through special training; increase the opportunities for women of the Third World to involve themselves in research and the transfer of resources, skills and knowledge relating to the development of their countries.
