Mar 1986, Penang (Malaysia), as Action for Rational Drugs in Asia (ARDA), after a summit meeting of consumer, health care professional, groups and activists from 8 Asian countries in Asia. Current name adopted, 7 Feb 2002, when registered in accordance with the law of Sri Lanka as Asia-Pacific chapter of F-XF0934 - Health Action International (HAI).
