Founded 12 Jan 1952, Paris (France), as European Union of the Wholesale Potato Trade -- Union européenne du commerce de gros des pommes de terre (UECGPT) -- Europäische Union des Kartoffelgrosshandels, following preliminary meeting, 1951, Assmannshausen (Germany FR). Statutes modified, 1 Sep 1952, Moorslede (Belgium). Previously referred to in English as European Union of the Wholesale Potato Merchants. Changed name to Union européenne du commerce des pommes de terre (EUROPATAT) -- European Union of the Potato Trade -- Unión Europea del Comercio de Patatas -- Europäische Union des Kartoffelshandels, 5 June 2003, Ostend (Belgium), when statutes adopted. Current statutes adopted, 2010, Edinburgh (UK), when registered in accordance with Belgian law. EU Transparency Register: 16057181340-75.

Aims

Protect the interests of wholesale potato merchants, in particular: develop international commercial activity in wholesale potato trading; protect professional and commercial interests on both European and international levels; represent the profession within official and international organizations; define common policy to further technical and commercial advancement of all traders and with particular emphasis on maintaining free trade in potatoes.
