The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

25 Oct 1989, Brussels (Belgium). Ceased to exist, 1 Jan 2000, when merged with Association of European Express Carriers (AEEC) to form European Express Association (EEA).

Aims

Create greater freedom of choice for use of express delivery services; encourage free movement of goods intra-EU and between EU and third countries; promote regulations improving speed and reliability of customs procedures for international trade to and from the EU; create a level playing field between private carriers and post offices competing in international express business; ensure public companies in the industry do not abuse their dominant position to the disadvantage of consumers and private carriers.
