1992, by E-XE2442 - European Commission (EC), under Directive 79/409/EEC of E-XE3068 - Council of the European Union on the conservation of wild birds and Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora. Also referred to as Natura 2000 Community Network.
Protect rare and endangered European species and habitats by enabling natural habitat types and species' habitats to be maintained or restored at a favourable conservation status in their natural range; develop landscape features of major importance for wild fauna and flora.
