Develop activities to further and strengthen the academic and institutional development of human and social sciences in the countries of the region; contribute to formulation of theories and methods for consolidation of democracy, respect for human rights and development of a culture of peace in Latin America and the Caribbean; cooperate with member states in formulating, executing and evaluating integrated social policies to strengthen development strategies; promote social equity, encouraging participation of women, youth and marginalized sectors in human development; implement cooperative activities with governmental and nongovernmental organizations geared to study ad control of violence and other forms of social conflict.
