1986, as a Regional Working Group of B-XB2329 - International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), with the title South Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (SPASAI) -- Association des institutions supérieures de contrôle des finances publiques du Pacifique du Sud -- Asociación de Entidades Fiscalizadoras Superiores del Pacifico del Sur -- Südpazifische Assoziation der Obersten Rechnungskontrollbehörden. Signature of Agreement and recognition of INTOSAI, at first meeting, 11 Nov 1988, Port Vila (Vanuatu). From 1973 until 1986, existed as Heads of Audit Offices of the South Pacific. Current title adopted 2008.
Promote transparent, accountable, effective and efficient use of public sector resources in the Pacific; serve as a regional working group of INTOSAI, in the interest of all SAIs in the Pacific and beyond; encourage and strengthen cooperation with other SAIs, other regional working groups, organs of INTOSAI and other organizations working to improve public sector governance outcomes in the Pacific.
