28 Jun 1878, Saint Quentin (France), by Léon Jean Dehon, as a clerical religious congregation under the title Congregation of the Oblates of the Sacred Heart. Suppressed 1883 but reborn under present title 1884. Approved 4 Jul 1906. Also referred to as Dehonians. A secular institute is R-XR0059 - Missionary Company of the Sacred Heart and the lay entity R-XR5500 - Lay Dehonians for apostolic action by the clergy and faithful.
