History

2 June 1997, by Council of the European Union. Official opening 7-8 Apr 2000, Vienna (Austria). Succeeded by European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), Mar 2007.

Aims

Provide the European Community and its Member States with objective, reliable and comparable data at European level on the phenomena of racism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism, in order to support them take measures or formulate courses of action with their respective spheres of competence.

Runs: European Racism and Xenophobia Information Network (RAXEN). Areas covered: employment; free movement of people and goods; education and training; media and culture. Organizes national and European round tables. Sets up research projects.
