1946, following decision of the 1945 meeting of Nordic Ministers of Social Affairs. Operates as a body for cooperation in matters relating to social statistics, by virtue of a decision, 20 Dec 1978, of D-XD4238 - Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM). Constituted, 1 Jan 1979, as a permanent body under NMR and Nordic Committee on Social Policy. Also referred to in English as Nordic Committee on Social Security Statistics.
Ensure the best possible comparability of reports on the scope and contents of social security arrangements in the Nordic countries; propose and implement development projects in the field of social statistics; prepare and coordinate publications in the field.
