Founded 1975, Njoro (Kenya), at the then Egerton Agricultural College, by the African Regional Council of B-XB2361 - International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). Project temporarily wound up in 1978 and re-established in 1979. The African Regional Council of IPPF passed a formal resolution, 15 Jun 1982, establishing the Centre as an autonomous institution with its own separate constitution and Board of Directors. Registered in accordance with Kenyan law. Initially was operating only Anglophone programmes, but from 1983 operates Francophone programmes as well. West African Sub-Office located in Lomé (Togo).
