We were saddened to hear of the passing of Bernard Lietaer yesterday.
Lietaer was internationally known for his promotion of alternative currencies, the topic of his book The Future of Money.
He was also recognized for his work at the Center for Sustainable Resources in Berkeley.
We are grateful for the support he gave UIA as an Active Member since 2005.
We will miss him.

The Union of International Associations (UIA) has invited 25,000 international associations to participate in its seventh edition of the Survey on International Meetings Issues to uncover how they organize their meetings and conferences. The results of the survey will be announced at the Annual Associate Members Meeting / UIA Associations Round Table Europe in Lyon on November 15th and published on UIA website after the event.

The German Marshall Fund of the United States will organise a workshop on "The Cost of a Normless Europe" in Brussels on 16th-17th September 2019.

The aim of the workshop is to bring together ongoing empirical and theoretical research to explore the processes whereby a normless Europe is of consequence and its implications for the EU as an international actor – be it ‘normative’ or ‘strategic’.
