History
Proposal for establishment approved at 37th session of B-XB3383 - UNESCO, 13 Nov 2013, Paris (France), and formally approved by Chinese government. Agreement between UNESCO and China signed 12 May 2016 and in force for 2016-2021, with option for renewal between parties. A UNESCO Category II Centre.

Foster knowledge and technology of global-scale geochemistry for sustainable global development in the management of natural resources and the environment.
