History
First Congress organized by E-XE1426 - European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) of D-XD0435 - Council of Europe (CE), Jan 2009, Cape Town (South Africa), when declaration was adopted. Established as a permanent body, Apr 2009. Statutes adopted 23 May 2011 and entered into force 24 Sep 2011.
Aims
Promote constitutional justice - understood as constitutional review including human rights case-law - as a key element for democracy, the protection of human rights and the rule of law.
