History
Registered as a non-profit limited liability company under German law. Shareholders are designated by governments of international partners committing themselves in an intergovernmental convention supporting construction and operation of the European XFEL. Construction started early 2009; commissioning of accelerator finished early 2017; user operation of first branch started 3rd quarter 2017 and completed early 2019. Operation at nominal bunch train parameters expected 2020.
