History
Jul 2002, by F-XF2522 - Southern African Development Community (SADC), in terms of SADC Protocol on Energy (1996), SADC Energy Cooperation Policy and Strategy (1996), SADC Energy Section Action Plan (1997), SADC Energy Activity Plan (2000) and in pursuit of the initiative of E-XK2193 - New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) and E-XJ2251 - African Energy Commission (AFREC). Officially launched 26 Sep 2002, Windhoek (Namibia). Registered in accordance with the law of Namibia, 3 Oct 2003.
Aims
Facilitate harmonization of regulatory policies, legislation, standards and practices; be a platform for effective cooperation among energy regulators within the SADC region.
