History

Founded 16 Oct 2008, by 27 organizations from 5 countries. Registered in accordance with Belgian law.

Aims

Promote the concept of responsible tourism and its principles and values by: promoting exchange of good practices along with tools available to both small and micro-enterprises for a sustainable and competitive tourism; conveying to members the core vision of the European Agenda on responsible and competitive tourism; approving and implementing a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) system.

Activities

Raises travellers awareness about the principles and good practices of responsible tourism; cooperates with conventional tourism agencies to raise their awareness; cooperates with local authorities, public institutions at European, national and local level, agencies, schools and universities, research centres and other tourist operators in defining tourism development policies; participates in international cooperation projects; ensures collaboration among responsible tourism operators and communities in the South of the world and their organizations; organizes awareness campaigns, meetings and conferences; provides training for tourist operators.
