The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

Attract private capital by creating independent investment funds; by means of these funds, foster enterprise creation in the European Union by strengthening the financing opportunities available to new enterprises and improving the quality and survival rate of stage projects.

Following invitations to tender by the European Commission, 23 seed capital funds were in operation as of Feb 1995, having gathered capital of ECU 41 million, 58% from private sources, expected to increase to ECU 61 million by end 1995. ECU 26.6 million has been invested in 228 new and innovative companies of which 188 are still in operation. Services provided: information; training; documentation; consulting; bilateral contacts with the seed capital funds. Organizes seminars.
