The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

21 Jun 1994, as a thematic network of H-XF0647 - Université des réseaux d'expression française (UREF), by C-XF3420 - Agence universitaire de La Francophonie (AUF), pursuant to F-XF1536 - Conférence au sommet des chefs d'Etat et de gouvernement des pays ayant le français en partage (Sommet de la Francophonie), Oct 1993, Grand-Baie (Mauritius). Ceased to exist.

Aims

Promote and develop information technology in the French language, in particular the automatic processing of written and spoken French, including research and development in analysis and generation of text and in recognition, understanding and synthesis of words; strengthen applications relating to document management, human-machine interactions and computer-assisted editing and translation; promote cooperation among French-speaking researchers, research teams, university laboratories and research centres; reduce the isolation of researchers, laboratories and research teams in francophone countries, particularly developing countries; contribute to the quality and dissemination of French-language research and to the production of scientific publications in French; assist French-speaking researchers in non-French speaking countries to collaborate with their francophone colleagues.
