Name changed, 1955, to International Federation of Christian Trade Unions of Transport Workers -- Fédération internationale des syndicats chrétiens du personnel des transports. Present name adopted 1970. Current Statutes adopted 13 Mar 1963, Brussels (Belgium); amended: 27-29 May 1964, Ostend (Belgium); 27-29 May 1970, Vienna (Austria); 29-30 Nov and 1-2 Dec 1976, Antwerp (Belgium); 29 Jun 1978, Brussels; 29 Sep-3 Oct 1986, Houffalize (Belgium). WCL merged with H-XA1667 - International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) to form A-XM2085 - International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), Nov 2006. Ceased to exist, prior to 2014.
Defend at international and regional levels the interests of affiliated organizations and their members; provide moral support and material aid to affiliated organizations by ensuring permanent cooperation among them.
